Clayworks Studio Entrance

Scene of the grime: the Clayworks studio.

Welcome to Clayworks

Clayworks is a teaching pottery studio associated with Roberson Museum and Science Center in Binghamton, New York.

Throwing A Pot On A Wheel Students at Clayworks explore a wide variety of forms and methods. It is gratifying to drink your morning coffee out of a mug you threw yourself, or to serve dinner to your family on an array of dinner plates of your own design and handiwork. Other students choose to focus on more abstract creations rather than functional pieces, drawing their inspiration from nature and the world surrounding them.

We have a well-equipped studio to meet the needs of beginning to advanced potters. Each participant works at their own potter's wheel using clay provided by the studio. A wide variety of tools and glazes are available to refine creative expression. Finished pieces are fired in our electric or gas kilns. Potters may contribute selected works to periodic auctions and sales to help fund our pottery community.
